Overview

Maobushisaishinto (TJ-127) is a traditional Japanese Kampo medicine developed and manufactured by Tsumura & Co. It is a fixed-dose combination extract consisting of three medicinal herbs: Ephedra Herb (*Ephedra sinica*), Aconite Root (*Aconitum carmichaelii*), and Asiasarum Root (*Asiasarum sieboldii*). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of the common cold, allergic rhinitis, and bronchitis, particularly in patients with a weakened constitution or elderly individuals (referred to as "Sho" in Kampo medicine). The therapeutic effect is derived from the synergistic action of its components: ephedrine alkaloids from Ephedra provide sympathomimetic activity, aconitine alkaloids from Aconite offer analgesic and thermogenic effects, and methyleugenol from Asiasarum contributes anti-inflammatory and antitussive properties. In Japan, it is regulated as a prescription pharmaceutical.
