MAPS Staphylococcus aureus vaccine is an investigational **biologic vaccine** built on the Multiple Antigen Presenting System platform and developed by Boston Children's Hospital. The construct comprises an immunogenic polysaccharide component, including *Staphylococcus aureus* capsular polysaccharide type 5 or type 8 or another immunogenic capsular or noncapsular polysaccharide, physically associated through complementary affinity molecules with one or more *S. aureus* peptide or polypeptide antigens. A reported *S. aureus*-specific MAPS composition contains six distinct peptide antigens and is designed to induce both humoral and cellular immunity, with B-cell and T-cell responses contributing to protection in preclinical models of skin necrosis, skin abscess, invasive disease, and mucosal colonization caused by *Staphylococcus aureus*.
