Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MAR005 is a monoclonal antibody developed by Marea Therapeutics for the treatment of hypertriglyceridaemia and related cardiometabolic disorders. It specifically targets and inhibits Angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3), a protein that regulates lipid metabolism by inhibiting lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and endothelial lipase (EL). By blocking ANGPTL3, MAR005 promotes the clearance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins and lowers plasma levels of triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, and other atherogenic lipids. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1b clinical trials to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and lipid-lowering efficacy in patients with elevated triglycerides.
