Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of maraviroc, a CCR5 antagonist, and favipiravir, an antiviral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase inhibitor. This combination has been studied for the treatment of COVID-19, with the rationale that maraviroc could modulate inflammation while favipiravir inhibits viral replication. Studies have shown that the combination plus systemic steroids may have a larger effect on decreasing viral load compared to systemic steroids alone or with just one of these drugs.
