Overview

MED2 is a cell-penetrating peptide mimetic derived from the phospholipid binding domain of Myristoylated alanine-rich C-kinase substrate (MARCKS). It is being developed as a novel therapeutic for glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive malignancy. MED2 selectively triggers cytolytic death in GBM cells by targeting the plasma membrane and inducing intracellular calcium accumulation. This mechanism allows it to overcome traditional GBM resistance mechanisms, including caspase inhibition, while sparing normal human astrocytes.
