Overview
**maresin 1** is a specialized pro-resolving lipid mediator derived from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) through enzymatic conversion by 12-lipoxygenase in human macrophages[1][3][4][5][6]. It is a member of the SPM (specialized pro-resolving mediators) class of polyunsaturated fatty acid metabolites[1][6]. Maresin 1 exhibits potent anti-inflammatory, pro-resolution, analgesic, protective, and pro-healing actions. Mechanism of action involves: - Suppression of neutrophil migration and infiltration[1][3][5][6] - Inhibition of proinflammatory cytokine production (IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6)[3][6] - Stimulation of efferocytosis and phagocytosis by macrophages[1][3][6] - Promotion of regulatory T cell generation and inhibition of Th1/Th17 differentiation through GPR32 and LGR6 receptors[3] - Inhibition of neuron excitation via TRPV1 channel blockade[1]
