Overview

Marjoram extract is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of *Origanum majorana* (sweet marjoram). It has been traditionally used in Middle Eastern folk medicine and is investigated for its potential anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and anticancer properties. In vitro and in vivo studies suggest that marjoram extract can induce apoptosis in various cancer cell lines, including breast cancer (MCF-7), by modulating apoptotic markers such as p53, Bax, and Bcl-2. Additionally, clinical and preclinical studies have explored its therapeutic potential in managing hormonal and metabolic parameters in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), where it has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) levels.
