Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Marshmallow root syrup is an oral herbal preparation containing a macerate of marshmallow root (*Althaea officinalis* L., radix). Developed and manufactured by Zakład Farmaceutyczny AMARA, it is a traditional herbal medicinal product used to relieve throat irritation, oral mucosa inflammation, and associated dry cough. The active mucilage substances in the marshmallow root macerate act locally by forming a protective, soothing, and coating layer over the inflamed mucosal membranes of the mouth and throat, reducing the cough reflex and easing discomfort.
