marstacimab

Marstacimab is a human monoclonal antibody developed for the prevention or reduction of bleeding episodes in people with hemophilia A and hemophilia B. Unlike traditional therapies that replace missing clotting factors, marstacimab targets and neutralizes tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI), a natural anticoagulant protein that inhibits the initiation of blood clotting. By binding to the Kunitz domain 2 (K2) of TFPI, it enhances coagulation by allowing increased thrombin generation, thereby improving blood clot formation. Marstacimab is administered subcutaneously and was developed by Pfizer. It is approved under the brand name Hympavzi in both the United States and European Union as of late 2024[1][5][6][7].
