**MART-1 mRNA** is a synthetic messenger RNA encoding the melanoma-associated antigen recognized by T cells 1 (MART-1, also known as melan-A, encoded by the MLANA gene). MART-1 mRNA is utilized primarily as a component of experimental cancer vaccines, aiming to elicit an immune response against melanoma cells expressing MART-1. The mechanism of action involves translation of the mRNA after delivery into host cells, resulting in the presentation of MART-1 peptides via major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules, subsequently activating MART-1–specific CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and CD4+ helper T cells[1][3][5]. MART-1 mRNA vaccines have been formulated for delivery via various modalities, including lipopolyplexes and dendritic cell transduction. They are under investigation for the prevention and treatment of melanoma, as they can induce anti-tumor cellular immune responses and cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity[1][3][5].
