Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mashabaladi Kwatha is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal decoction (kwatha) primarily used for the treatment of Vata-related neurological disorders. The formulation consists of seven primary herbal ingredients: Masha (Vigna radiata or Phaseolus mungo), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Shookashimbi (Mucuna pruriens), Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), and Urubaka (Ricinus communis), along with additives like Hingu (asafoetida) and Saindhava (rock salt). It is traditionally indicated for conditions such as hemiplegia, facial palsy, paraplegia, neck rigidity, and tinnitus. The therapeutic effects are attributed to the synergistic action of phytochemicals like alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins, which provide neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory benefits. Various Ayurvedic medicine manufacturers produce this formulation, including Progen Research Lab.
