masupirdine

Masupirdine is a selective serotonin 6 (5-HT6) receptor antagonist developed as a small molecule therapy for neuropsychiatric and cognitive symptoms in Alzheimer's disease. It has shown procognitive effects in preclinical models, including reversal of age-related memory decline and increased brain acetylcholine and glutamate levels. In clinical studies, masupirdine has been evaluated as an adjunct treatment to donepezil and memantine in moderate Alzheimer's disease, with post hoc analyses suggesting potential benefits on agitation/aggression and psychosis domains. The drug is currently being studied in Phase 3 trials for the treatment of agitation associated with Alzheimer's dementia[1][2][4][7].
