MatriPlax is an allogeneic cell therapy product consisting of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from the human placenta choriodecidual membrane (pcMSCs). Developed by BioSpring, it is currently under clinical investigation for the treatment of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The therapeutic mechanism of MatriPlax involves the systemic administration of these stem cells, which migrate to sites of inflammation and lung injury. Once localized, the pcMSCs exert immunomodulatory effects by secreting paracrine factors that reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine levels and promote an anti-inflammatory environment, thereby facilitating tissue repair and improving alveolar-capillary barrier function.
