Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Matrix III Carboplatin is a localized, controlled-release formulation of the platinum-based cytotoxic agent carboplatin, developed by Royer Biomedical. It utilizes a calcium-based matrix (Matrix III platform) to deliver the drug directly to tumor sites, concentrating the therapeutic effect while minimizing systemic toxicity. This delivery system is specifically being developed for the treatment of various feline cancers. Carboplatin works by binding to DNA, causing inter- and intra-strand cross-links that inhibit DNA synthesis and lead to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells.
