Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MAX-001 is a proprietary, patent-protected oral formulation of nefopam developed by Maxona Pharmaceuticals. It is a non-opioid, non-NSAID analgesic designed for rapid onset and extended duration of pain relief. The drug acts as a triple neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitor with primary effects on norepinephrine (N), followed by serotonin (S), and dopamine (D) reuptake inhibition (N > S > D). This mechanism provides opioid-level efficacy for moderate to severe acute and chronic pain without the addiction risk or side effects associated with opioids or NSAIDs. Nefopam has been used internationally for over 40 years but is being newly formulated and clinically developed in the U.S. by Maxona Pharmaceuticals to address unmet needs in pain management[1][5][7].
