Overview

MAX-6 is a small molecule, highly selective inhibitor of Rho-associated protein kinase 2 (ROCK2) being developed by Guangzhou Zaiji Medical Technology (also known as Maxinovel) for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). ROCK2 is a key signaling molecule involved in the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, cell migration, and the production of pro-fibrotic cytokines. By selectively inhibiting ROCK2, MAX-6 aims to suppress the activation of myofibroblasts and reduce the fibrotic response in lung tissue. Unlike non-selective ROCK inhibitors, which can cause systemic side effects such as hypotension due to ROCK1 inhibition, MAX-6 is designed to provide a safer therapeutic profile. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics.
