Overview

MaxFe is a prescription-strength oral multivitamin and multimineral dietary supplement marketed by Seyer Pharmatec, primarily used for the management of iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia. It is frequently utilized as supportive care in cancer patients to manage treatment-related anemia and is also indicated for folate-deficiency anemia. The formulation is comprehensive, containing 160 mg of elemental iron alongside essential erythropoietic cofactors including folic acid (vitamin B9), cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12), and biotin (vitamin B7). To optimize therapeutic outcomes, the supplement includes ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to enhance intestinal iron absorption, as well as magnesium and zinc. Notably, MaxFe incorporates docusate, a stool softener, to mitigate constipation, which is a common gastrointestinal side effect of high-dose oral iron therapy.
