Maxicold

Maxicold (often misspelled as Maxicom in some contexts) is a multi-component over-the-counter (OTC) medication developed and marketed by OTCPharm for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, influenza, and other acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). The standard formulation is typically a powder for oral solution containing paracetamol (analgesic and antipyretic), phenylephrine hydrochloride (nasal decongestant), pheniramine maleate (antihistamine), and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Paracetamol reduces fever and pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Phenylephrine acts as an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist to reduce nasal mucosal edema and congestion. Pheniramine is an H1-receptor antagonist that alleviates allergic-like symptoms such as sneezing and rhinorrhea. Ascorbic acid is included to support immune function during infection. The brand also encompasses other formulations, including throat sprays and pediatric suspensions.
