Maxicom

Maxicom is an oral suspension formulation of cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, marketed by Moral Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. It is primarily used to treat various bacterial infections, including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and acute bronchitis. Cefixime exerts its bactericidal effect by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This inhibition disrupts the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis, leading to cell wall lysis and bacterial death. As a third-generation cephalosporin, it exhibits broad-spectrum activity against many Gram-negative and some Gram-positive organisms and is notably stable in the presence of many beta-lactamase enzymes.
