Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Maxing Xiongting Mixture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. It is specifically formulated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated by hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH). The formula is a modified version of classical TCM prescriptions, likely incorporating *Ephedra sinica* (Ma Huang) and *Prunus armeniaca* (Xing Ren) from the Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang formula, combined with *Ligusticum wallichii* (Chuan Xiong) and *Descurainia sophia* or *Lepidium apetalum* (Ting Li Zi). The mixture is designed to clear lung heat, resolve phlegm, and promote blood circulation to alleviate pulmonary vascular resistance and improve respiratory function. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to assess its efficacy in reducing pulmonary artery pressure and improving the quality of life in patients with COPD-associated HPH.
