Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MaxioCel is an advanced wound care dressing composed of 100% chitosan fibers, developed by Axio Biosolutions. It is designed for the management of chronic and acute wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, and venous leg ulcers. The dressing utilizes Bioactive Microfiber Gelling (BMG) technology, which allows it to absorb high amounts of wound exudate while transforming into a cohesive gel that maintains a moist healing environment. Its mechanism of action involves the inherent properties of chitosan, which promote rapid hemostasis through the agglutination of red blood cells and provide antimicrobial protection against a broad spectrum of pathogens. Additionally, MaxioCel facilitates autolytic debridement and pain reduction during dressing changes due to its non-adherent gel nature.
