Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Maxol is an oral generic formulation of esomeprazole developed and marketed by Maxitech Pharma. As a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), esomeprazole works by covalently and irreversibly inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach lining, thereby blocking the final step of gastric acid secretion. Maxol is approved and marketed as 20 mg and 40 mg capsules for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
