Overview

MB-07803 is a second-generation small molecule gluconeogenesis inhibitor developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It acts as a selective and potent inhibitor of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase), a key regulatory enzyme in the hepatic gluconeogenesis pathway. By inhibiting FBPase, MB-07803 reduces glucose production in the liver independently of insulin levels and body weight. The drug has been investigated up to Phase 2 clinical trials for its ability to lower fasting and postprandial blood glucose in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
