MB-CART19.1 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the CD19 antigen, which is widely expressed on the surface of B-cell lineage cells. Developed by Nelson Hamerschlak at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, the therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that facilitates the recognition and elimination of CD19-positive malignant B cells. It is currently under investigation in a Phase I clinical trial (NCT03635632) for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), in both adult and pediatric populations.
