Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MB-Fluid is a sterile, biocompatible ophthalmic staining solution containing 0.05% methylene blue (methylthioninium chloride). It is primarily utilized in ophthalmic surgery to enhance the visualization of intraocular structures. Specifically, it is employed for staining the anterior lens capsule to facilitate capsulorhexis in cases of mature cataracts where the red reflex is absent, and for staining the internal limiting membrane (ILM) during vitreoretinal procedures. By providing a clear contrast between the target tissue and the underlying structures, MB-Fluid improves surgical precision and safety. The solution is formulated to be iso-osmolar and pH-neutral to minimize potential toxic effects on the corneal endothelium and other intraocular tissues.
