Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of the bevacizumab biosimilar MB02 (marketed as Alymsys), plus the chemotherapeutic agents carboplatin and paclitaxel. - **MB02** is a biosimilar to bevacizumab (originally marketed as Avastin), a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits angiogenesis by binding to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby preventing its interaction with VEGF receptors on endothelial cells. - **Carboplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Paclitaxel** is an antimicrotubule agent that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division. This combination has been studied primarily for first-line treatment of advanced or metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In phase III clinical trials, the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of MB02 in combination with carboplatin and paclitaxel were shown to be equivalent to those of reference bevacizumab plus chemotherapy[1][2][3][5][6]. The regimen involves intravenous administration every 3 weeks for up to six cycles, followed by maintenance monotherapy with the anti-VEGF antibody until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity[1][6].
