Overview

MB202 is a bispecific peptide drug candidate developed by Mainline Biosciences. It functions as a dual agonist targeting both the Melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) and the Oxytocin receptor. Currently in the preclinical stage, MB202 is being developed for the treatment of cachexia, a complex metabolic syndrome characterized by significant loss of muscle mass and often fat, typically associated with underlying chronic diseases such as cancer. The dual-targeting approach aims to leverage the roles of MC4R and oxytocin signaling in regulating energy balance, appetite, and metabolic homeostasis to counteract the wasting effects of disease-related cachexia.
