Overview

MB2500 is a botanical drug candidate derived from a well-characterized plant with a long history of traditional use for its neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing properties. It is being developed as a next-generation psychoactive prescription medicine targeting mental health indications, specifically attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and cognitive deficits associated with schizophrenia. Preclinical studies have shown that MB2500 improves cognition in animal models, with efficacy comparable to or better than donepezil (commonly used for Alzheimer's disease). PET scan data indicate increased neuronal activity and connectivity in the prefrontal cortex, suggesting potential neuronal remodeling relevant to psychiatric disorders. The drug has not yet undergone clinical trials required for FDA approval but is expected to enter first-in-human studies following an IND submission planned for 2025[1][2][5][7].
