MB66

MB66 is a multipurpose prevention technology (MPT) product formulated as a rapidly dissolving vaginal film that delivers monoclonal antibodies targeting HIV-1 and herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2). The film contains two specific monoclonal antibodies—VRC01-N, which neutralizes HIV-1, and HSV8-N, which targets HSV-1/2. Upon insertion into the vagina, the film releases these antibodies to the mucosal surface where they provide local antiviral activity. In Phase 1 clinical trials, MB66 demonstrated safety, high acceptability among users, and effective antibody levels in vaginal secretions for at least 24 hours post-administration. Ex vivo studies showed significant neutralization of both HIV-1 and HSV-2 by samples collected after use. The product is being developed as a female-controlled method to prevent sexual transmission of both viruses[4][7].
