MB83 is a radiolabeled recombinant antibody fragment, specifically a minibody, developed for the non-invasive detection of endometrial and other gynecological cancers using positron emission tomography (PET). It targets Epithelial Membrane Protein 2 (EMP2), a tetraspan protein that is highly expressed in endometrial cancer and associated with poor prognosis. The MB83 minibody is typically conjugated with DOTA and chelated with Copper-64 (Cu-64) to serve as an imaging tracer. Preclinical research conducted at UCLA has demonstrated that Cu-64 labeled MB83 provides specific and quantitative uptake in EMP2-positive tumor xenografts, offering a potential diagnostic tool where conventional FDG-PET imaging may be less effective.
