Overview

MBD-007 is an investigational gene therapy being developed by Medera Biopharmaceutical for the treatment of Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI). CLI is the most advanced stage of peripheral artery disease (PAD), characterized by severe arterial obstruction that significantly reduces blood flow to the extremities, leading to chronic rest pain, non-healing ulcers, and gangrene. MBD-007 is designed as a disease-modifying intervention, likely utilizing an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver therapeutic genetic material intended to promote angiogenesis or improve vascular function in ischemic tissues. The program is part of Medera's broader cardiovascular and regenerative medicine pipeline, which was established following the integration of its subsidiaries Sardocor and Novoheart. As of early 2024, MBD-007 is in Phase 1 clinical development.
