Overview

MBI-05-01 (also known as MBM-02) is a Tempol-based small molecule therapeutic developed by Matrix Biomed. It is designed to modulate the activity of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 1 (HIF-1) and Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 2 (HIF-2), which are master transcription factors that regulate the cellular response to low oxygen levels and are implicated in tumor progression and treatment-related toxicities. MBI-05-01 is specifically being developed to mitigate the toxic side effects associated with doxorubicin and other anthracycline-based chemotherapies, such as cardiotoxicity. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development for these indications.
