MBI-101.0 is a Tempol-based small molecule developed by Matrix Biomed for the treatment of prostate cancer. It functions as an inhibitor of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) and hypoxia-inducible factor-2 (HIF-2), which are master regulatory transcription factors that enable cancer cells to survive, proliferate, and adapt to the hypoxic environments typical of solid tumors. By modulating these genes, MBI-101.0 aims to suppress tumor growth and progression. The drug is part of a broader pipeline of nitroxide-based compounds (Tempol) being investigated for oncology and radiation-related indications and is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
