Overview

MBI-102.0 is a small molecule therapeutic developed by Matrix Biomed, currently in Phase 2 clinical development for the treatment of brain cancer. It is a formulation of tempol (4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl) that acts as a potent inhibitor of the master regulatory genes HIF-1 and HIF-2 (hypoxia-inducible factors). These factors are critical for cancer cell survival, growth, and progression, particularly within the hypoxic environments characteristic of solid tumors. By targeting these factors, MBI-102.0 aims to disrupt the adaptive mechanisms of cancer cells and inhibit tumor development. The drug is being investigated as a potential addition to standard-of-care treatments, such as radiotherapy and temozolomide, for brain malignancies.
