Overview

MBI-201.0 is a tempol-based small molecule drug candidate developed by Matrix Biomed for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis. It functions as a modulator of hypoxia-inducible factors 1 and 2 (HIF-1 and HIF-2), which are master regulators of the cellular response to hypoxia and are involved in tissue damage and inflammation. By modulating these pathways, MBI-201.0 aims to reduce the toxicities associated with radiation and chemotherapy, specifically oral mucositis in patients with head and neck cancer. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
