Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MBP-Y003 is a preclinical-stage nanoparticle drug delivery system developed by Mebiopharm for the treatment of various malignancies, including lymphoma and prostate cancer. The therapeutic utilizes a proprietary transferrin-conjugated nanoparticle platform designed to target the transferrin receptor (TfR), which is frequently overexpressed on the surface of cancer cells. By binding to TfR, the nanoparticle facilitates the selective internalization of its therapeutic payload into tumor cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis. This targeted approach aims to increase the local concentration of the drug within the tumor microenvironment while minimizing systemic exposure and associated off-target toxicities. A related formulation, MBP-Y003b, is also under investigation for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
