MBP431 is an experimental monoclonal antibody cocktail developed by MAPP Biopharmaceuticals specifically for the treatment of Ebola virus disease caused by the Sudan virus (SUDV). The cocktail is composed of two potent, neutralizing human monoclonal antibodies, mAb282 and mAb322, which were originally identified from survivors of Sudan virus infections. These antibodies target non-overlapping epitopes on the Sudan virus glycoprotein (GP), working synergistically to neutralize the virus and block its entry into host cells. Developed with significant support from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), MBP431 has undergone Phase 1 clinical evaluation and was deployed for compassionate use during the 2022 Sudan virus outbreak in Uganda.
