The MBT-DC vaccine is an autologous cellular immunotherapy developed by the Russian biotechnology company Molecular Biology and Technology (MBT). This personalized cancer vaccine is produced by isolating a patient's peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), which are then differentiated into dendritic cells (DCs) ex vivo. These dendritic cells are matured and pulsed with either autologous tumor lysates or specific tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) to enable them to present tumor-specific peptides via MHC molecules. Upon re-administration to the patient, typically through intradermal injection, these activated dendritic cells migrate to the lymph nodes where they prime and activate T-cells, inducing a robust cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response against the tumor. The vaccine has been investigated in Phase 2 clinical trials for several solid tumors, including glioblastoma multiforme, malignant melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, and colorectal cancer, primarily within the Russian Federation.
