Overview
MBX 6XXX is a preclinical-stage peptide prodrug being developed by MBX Biosciences for the treatment of obesity. It acts as a triple agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and glucagon (GCGR) receptors. The drug is designed using MBX's proprietary Protein Endocrine Device (PEP) platform, which aims to optimize the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of peptide therapies through a prodrug approach, potentially allowing for less frequent dosing and improved tolerability. As of late 2024, the program is in the discovery phase, with candidate nomination expected in the third quarter of 2026.
