Overview

MBX-700 is an investigational small‑molecule non‑nucleoside inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5B RNA‑dependent RNA polymerase, originally developed by Merck as part of its direct‑acting antiviral portfolio for chronic HCV infection.[5][10] By binding to an allosteric site on NS5B, it was designed to block viral RNA synthesis and replication, thereby suppressing HCV viral load, typically as part of combination regimens with other antivirals.[5][10] Development of MBX-700 did not progress to late‑stage clinical trials and its global R&D status is reported as pending.[5]
