Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MBX-8025 + atorvastatin is a combination of MBX-8025 (seladelpar), a selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta (PPAR-δ) agonist, and atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). MBX-8025 activates PPAR-δ, leading to improved lipid metabolism, decreased LDL-cholesterol, and beneficial effects on biochemical markers of cholestasis, while atorvastatin lowers cholesterol by inhibiting the rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis. This combination was studied for synergistic effects on hyperlipidemia, mixed dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. Clinical trials have demonstrated that the combination reduces apolipoprotein B-100, LDL, triglycerides, non-HDL cholesterol, free fatty acids, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, and improves several other metabolic endpoints compared to monotherapy.
