MC2-01 is a topical fixed-dose combination cream containing calcipotriene (0.005%) and betamethasone dipropionate (0.064%), developed using Polyaphron Dispersion (PAD) Technology to improve stability, cosmetic acceptability, and patient compliance for the treatment of mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis. The formulation is designed to be non-greasy, quickly absorbed, and moisturizing. The mechanism of action combines the effects of a vitamin D analog (calcipotriene), which modulates keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation via the vitamin D receptor, with a potent corticosteroid (betamethasone dipropionate), which exerts anti-inflammatory effects through glucocorticoid receptor agonism[1][2][3][6]. \nThe phrase "+ irradiation" refers to clinical studies assessing photoallergic potential by applying the cream followed by controlled skin irradiation; it does not indicate that "irradiation" is an active drug component or ingredient[1]. \nMC2 Therapeutics developed this product as an improved alternative to existing calcipotriene/betamethasone formulations for psoriasis.
