Overview

MC2-25 is a first-in-class topical cream being developed by MC2 Therapeutics for the treatment of vulvar lichen sclerosus (VLS). The active ingredient is alanyl glutamine, a di-peptide that functions as an isocyanate scavenger to inhibit the carbamylation of amino acids and proteins in the skin. Formulated using the proprietary PAD Technology delivery system, MC2-25 aims to address the hypothesized root cause of VLS—the carbamylation of proteins in the vulvar region by isocyanate (a dissociation product of urea). It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its efficacy in reducing itch severity and other clinical signs of the disease.
