Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Courage Therapeutics is developing melanocortin-3 receptor (MC3R) agonists as peptide and small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of cachexia and other diseases of wasting. The MC3R program focuses on stimulating food intake by targeting neural circuits in the central melanocortin system. Based on research from founder Dr. Roger Cone at the University of Michigan, these agonists are designed to drive increased feeding behavior. The program is currently in lead optimization, with potential applications in cachexia, anorexia nervosa, sarcopenia, and geriatric anorexia.
