MCARH125 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own T cells, genetically modifying them to express a CAR specific for BCMA, and re-infusing them to induce selective cytotoxicity against BCMA-expressing tumor cells. Developed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, it is being investigated primarily for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The mechanism of action centers on the recognition and destruction of BCMA-positive cancer cells by the engineered T lymphocytes[1][2][3].
