MCL-1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to selectively silence the expression of the **MCL-1 gene** (myeloid cell leukemia-1), an anti-apoptotic member of the BCL-2 family. MCL-1 is highly expressed in various tumors including leukemia, breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, and gastric cancer, and is implicated in the development of drug resistance and cell survival in these cancers. MCL-1 siRNA works by targeting MCL-1 mRNA, resulting in its degradation and the inhibition of MCL-1 protein synthesis. This leads to increased apoptosis of cancer cells, reduced proliferation, and reversal of drug resistance. In preclinical studies, delivery of MCL-1 siRNA via cationic niosomes or conjugated nanoparticles has shown knockdown efficacy and promising antitumor activity[1][2][3][5].
