Overview

MCMV5322A is a fully human monoclonal IgG1(κ) antibody developed to target cytomegalovirus (CMV). It specifically binds with high affinity to glycoprotein H (gH), an essential envelope protein of human CMV, thereby neutralizing viral entry into host cells. MCMV5322A is an affinity-matured version of the earlier antibody MSL-109 and was primarily investigated in combination with another monoclonal antibody, MCMV3068A, as the cocktail RG7667. The main clinical focus has been on preventing CMV disease in high-risk kidney transplant recipients and for prevention of maternal-fetal transmission of congenital CMV during pregnancy. Despite promising pharmacokinetic and safety data from early-phase trials, development was discontinued after Phase 2 due to lack of demonstrated efficacy[1][4][5][6][7][8].
