Drug intelligence / Profile preview
mCOFLU (mRNA-1083) is a combination mRNA vaccine developed by Moderna that targets both seasonal influenza and COVID-19. It is formulated in lipid nanoparticles and contains five mRNA sequences: four encoding the membrane-bound hemagglutinin (HA) glycoproteins of seasonal influenza virus strains (A/H1N1, A/H3N2, B/Victoria, and B/Yamagata) and one encoding the linked N-terminal domain (NTD) and receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein (specifically the Omicron XBB.1.5 variant). The vaccine is designed for active immunization of adults aged 50 and older. In clinical trials, mCOFLU demonstrated robust immunogenicity, eliciting non-inferior or superior antibody responses compared to co-administered licensed influenza and COVID-19 vaccines.
