Overview

MCP-311 is a metal-coordinated polymer drug candidate being developed by Synthonics for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It is a bismuth-levodopa co-polymer created using Synthonics' proprietary metal coordination technology, which links the small molecule drug (levodopa) with a metal ion (bismuth) to form a polymer. This formulation is designed to provide a controlled and sustained release of levodopa, aiming to maintain more consistent therapeutic levels in the blood and reduce the motor fluctuations and "off" periods associated with standard levodopa treatments. MCP-311 is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is considered the lead candidate for Parkinson's disease in the Synthonics pipeline.
