Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MCS-8 is an investigational multicarotenoid supplement being developed by Jyong Biotech (originally Health Ever Bio-Tech Co., Ltd.) for the prevention of prostate cancer in high-risk individuals. The agent is a plant-derived botanical compound containing multiple carotenoids, though the specific carotenoid composition has not been publicly disclosed. In a phase 2 clinical trial, MCS-8 demonstrated lower rates of positive prostate biopsies and high-grade prostate cancer compared to placebo, meeting its primary endpoint. The drug was well-tolerated with no serious treatment-related adverse events reported. MCS-8 is administered orally as soft capsules at dose levels of 15 mg/day or 30 mg/day. The phase 2 trial enrolled over 700 high-risk participants aged 50-75 years across 20 clinical sites in Taiwan with participation from more than 130 urologists.
